Objective: the objective was to discussing the teachers' knowledge and practices of a Nursing graduate course about diagnosis of human responses. Method: a qualitative study, conducted during the years 2010 and 2012, with fourteen teachers of graduate nursing working in a College located in the city of Juazeiro-Ceara. Data were collected through an interview by the signing of the agreement by the participants. Results: the subjects conceive the diagnosis with the clinical judgment of nurses about basic human needs of the individual. Teachers enter the topic of diagnostic to their pedagogical activities, according to the peculiarities of each curriculum subject. Conclusion: it is suggested that teachers improve their knowledge on the diagnosis of human responses and introduce effectively the theme to their education practice.

Objective: the objective was to characterize the prevalence of smoking among students of an IES. Method: this is
a quantitative study conducted in the city of Cajazeiras - Paraiba in an IES between February and December
2010. The sample consisted of 248 students of the courses offered by healthcare education institution studied.
Data were collected through questionnaire, after the signing of the agreement by the participants. Results: it
was observed the following percentage of smokers among the students researched courses: 5.6% nursing,
physiotherapy and pharmacy 4.5% 5.6%. The rate of ex-smokers identified among students was: 19% nursing,
physiotherapy and pharmacy 9.1% 17%. Conclusion: the rate of students of IES smokers demands the adoption of
pedagogical strategies that illustrate the harm from tobacco use.

Objective: The objective was to examine the applicability of the Nursing Process by nurses working at a hospital. Methods: This is a qualitative study of exploratory and descriptive, effective from February 2010 to January 2011 with 12 nurses who deliver nursing care in a hospital located in Juazeiro - EC. Data were obtained by applying an interview after the signing of the agreement by the participants. Results: The nurses do not apply the Nursing Process during development of its welfare activities. They replace the full employment of the same steps for the realization of this technology alone. Conclusion: Therefore, the fragmentation of Nursing Process to the nurses favors the production of a service unable to meet the needs of customer care assisted.
